                                                                                           TUNGABHADRA DAM POWER HOUSE

This is a multipurpose project jointly undertaken by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Government of Karnataka.  For administration matters relating to this joint scheme, Government of India constituted Tungabhadra Board with effect from 01.10.1953.

There are two powerhouses belonging to Tungabhadra Board viz.  TB Dam power house consisting of four 9 MW Units on the right side of the Tungabhadra Dam and Hampi power house consisting of another four 9 MW Units utilising the tail race waters of the dam powerhouse.  The Tungabhadra Dam is located on Tungabhadra River at about 6 KM from Hospet in Bellary District.  The full reservoir capacity at FRL of 1633 feet is 100.855 TMC with a live storage of 95 TMC.  The water from the reservoir is utilised by participating states as per the Krishna water tribunal award.
