APGENCO bagged the award for “OVERALL UTILITY PERFORMANCE – GENERATION” third time since the introduction of the India Power Awards by Council of Power Utilities.

Sri K.VIJAYANAND, IAS, Managing Director, APGENCO has received the award from Dr. C.Ranga Rajan, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and former Governor of Andhra Pradesh at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Expressing happiness, APGENCO Management thanked the employees for their excellent performance.





APGENCO is the largest power generating company of Andhra Pradesh State with an installed capacity of 8924 MW comprising 5093 MW Thermal, 3829 MW Hydel and 2 MW Wind Power. It is 57% of the total installed capacity of Andhra Pradesh State.

Achievements:

  • APGENCO added 1297MW during 2010-11
  • During the year 2010-11, Availability factor of thermal stations is 86.0%. APGENCO Thermal power stations have achieved highest annual generation of 29449 MU since inception.
  • APGENCO has achieved total generation of 37321 MU during 2010-11. Hydro power stations have enerated 7872 MU during 2010-11.
  • APGENCO is adding continuously one 500MW unit to AP state Grid for the last three years i.e., 500 MW each at Dr.NTTPS, KTPP and KTPS VI stage during 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-2012 respectively.
  • During the year 2010-11 APGENCO turn over was more than Rs.10,000 Crores.
  • APGENCO is entering into Non conventional energy sources like wind and solar in a big way. And programmed to commission 1MW solar PV at Jurala by November, 2011.
