APGENCO bags THE INDIA PRIDE AWARD-2011 under the category STATE PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKINGS (ELECTRICITY AND POWER)”.

The leading news paper group Dainik Bhaskar & Daily News & Analysis (DNA) have instituted INDIA PRIDE AWARDS”. In recognition to the excellence in performance APGENCO has been awarded under the category “STATE PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKINGS (ELECTRICITY AND POWER)”.APGENCO is the largest power generating company of Andhra Pradesh State with an installed capacity of 8924 MW comprising 5093 MW Thermal, 3829 MW Hydel and 2 MW Wind Power. It is 57% of the total installed capacity of Andhra Pradesh State.
Sri K.VIJAYANAND, IAS, Managing Director, APGENCO has received the award from Shri V. Narayanasamy, Minister of State, Parliamentary Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi.


Achievements:

APGENCO added 1297MW during 2010-11

o During the year 2010-11, Availability factor of thermal stations is 86.0%. APGENCO Thermal power stations have achieved highest annual generation of 29449 MU since inception.

o APGENCO has achieved total generation of 37321 MU during 2010-11. Hydro power stations have generated 7872 MU during 2010-11.

o APGENCO is adding continuously one 500MW unit to AP state Grid for the last three years.

o During the year 2010-11 APGENCO turn over was more than Rs.10,000 Crores.

o APGENCO is entering into Non conventional energy

o y sources like wind and solar in a big way. And programmed to commission 1MW solar PV at Jurala by November, 2011.
