The Govt of AP approved the proposal of APGENCO to set up a Special Purpose Vehicle(SPV) named as Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited (APPDCL), a Joint Venture Company of APGENCO(with 50% equity) and IL AND FS(50% equity). APPDCL has commenced its functions on 01.03.06. After completion of major activities of development of 2 X 800 MW Coal based Super Critical Thermal Power Station near Krishnapatnam in Nellore Dist, APPDCL is reconstituted with 51% equity of APGENCO and 49% equity of all four APDISCOMS and Govt. of AP.
About APPDCL
Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited (APPDCL) is implementing the following two Mega Power Projects on fast track basis in the state to meet the Supply – Demand gap of energy in the XI and XII plans.
1. 2 x 800MW coal based Supercritical Thermal Power Station near Krishnapatnam in Nellore District, which is about 150 Kms North of Chennai.
2. 2100MW (3 modules of each 700 MW) Combined cycle Power Plant near Karimnagar, which is about 160 Kms north of Hyderabad.
APPDCL commenced its functions on 01.03.06 in site identification, land Acquisition, statutory clearances, project report, environmental studies, availability of inputs, project consultancy services and selection of EPC contractor based on international competitive bidding and substantial progress has been achieved on both projects.
